Zanzibar – Moshi
You will fly from Zanzibar to Moshi, where our guide will meet you and transfer you to your mid-range hotel. After check-in, you will receive a pre-climb briefing about the Lemosho Route, safety, and what to expect on your Kilimanjaro adventure. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner and rest to prepare for your trek the next day.

Moshi – Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
After breakfast, you will drive approximately three hours from Moshi to Lemosho Gate. Entry formalities and permit registration will be completed before beginning your trek along a pristine forest trail. Covering 6 km in 3–4 hours, you will gradually ascend from 7,800 ft to 9,500 ft. Along the way, enjoy tropical flora, birds, and maybe even small mammals. Overnight and dinner are at Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira I Camp
You will trek 8 km in 5–6 hours, leaving the forest to enter the moorland. You will pass tall grasses, heather, and lichen-covered volcanic rocks, crossing streams and gentle hills. Arriving at Shira Ridge, you descend into Shira I Camp (11,500 ft) valley. From here, enjoy incredible views of Kibo Peak across the plateau. Dinner and overnight stay at Shira I Camp.

Shira I Camp to Shira II Camp
Today, you will trek 14 km over 5–7 hours eastward across the Shira Plateau, one of the world’s highest plateaus. The trail leads toward Kibo Peak’s snow-capped summit, passing meadows, streams, and moorland. You will arrive at Shira II Camp (13,800 ft) to rest, enjoy dinner, and acclimatize for the following day.

Hike 7 km over 4–6 hours along a ridge toward Lava Tower (4,600 m), also called the “Shark’s Tooth.” After lunch, descend to Barranco Camp (13,000 ft). This day is crucial for acclimatization, allowing your body to adjust to higher altitudes. Enjoy the spectacular semi-desert scenery and relax with dinner at Barranco Camp.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Climb the Barranco Wall, proceed to Karanga Camp (3,995 m), then continue to Barafu Camp (4,673 m) over 9 km in 8–10 hours. This completes the Southern Circuit, offering sweeping views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks. Dinner and overnight stay at Barafu prepare you for the midnight summit attempt.

At 2 a.m., your summit attempt begins. Ascend steep scree toward Stella Point (5,756 m), then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), Africa’s highest point. Witness sunrise if weather permits. Descend 12 km over 4–6 hours to Mweka Camp (10,000 ft), stopping at Barafu for refreshments. Trekking poles and gaiters are recommended. Dinner and overnight at Mweka Camp.
