Shira I Camp to Shira II Camp

Shira II Camp to Lava Tower Camp to Barranco Camp

Ascend to the Lava Tower—an impressive volcanic formation—before descending to Barranco Camp for acclimatization. The “climb high, sleep low” technique helps your body adjust smoothly. Upon arrival, unwind with warm towels, tea, and a hearty dinner as the sun sets behind the Barranco Wall.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Conquer the scenic Barranco Wall, then cross alpine terrain to Karanga Camp for a gourmet lunch. Continue to Barafu Camp, your final base before the Uhuru summit. Rest in your luxury tent, savor a warm dinner, and receive a personal summit briefing from your guide.

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Summit to Mweka Camp

Elevation (ft): 15,300ft to 19,345ft (and down to 10,000ft)

Distance: 5 km ascent / 12 km descent

Hiking Time: 7-8 hours ascent / 4-6 hours descent

Start your summit ascent at 2 a.m. under a sky full of stars. Your guide will lead you steadily up the steep scree to Stella Point, where you may witness a magnificent sunrise. Continue to Uhuru Peak—the Roof of Africa! After celebrating with photos, descend to Barafu Camp for lunch, then continue to Mweka Camp for a final night of celebration with your team.

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi

Elevation (ft): 10,000ft to 5,400ft

Distance: 10 km

Hiking Time: 3-4 hours

Habitat: Rain Forest

Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your official Kilimanjaro summit certificate. Enjoy a private transfer back to your luxury lodge in Moshi for relaxation, spa treatments, or a poolside rest before your onward journey.

Moshi to Zanzibar via Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)
