Nairobi to Moshi
You will be collected from Nairobi and transferred to your luxury hotel in Moshi. Once there, you'll meet your guide for a detailed trek briefing and a gear inspection to ensure you have all essential mountain equipment. Any missing items can be rented on the same day.

Moshi to Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2650m)
Following breakfast, you will embark on a drive lasting 2 to 3 hours to Lemosho Gate, where you will finalize your registration, obtain your entrance permit, and partake in lunch. At this juncture, you will also be introduced to your complete trekking team, which includes guides, porters, and cooks. The trek will then commence through a lush rainforest, taking roughly 2 to 3 hours to arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp, covering a distance of 7 km. Along the route, you may come across vibrant flowers such as Impatiens Kilimanjaro and might also observe black-and-white Colobus monkeys along with other forest wildlife.

Mti Mkubwa Camp (2650m) to Shira 2 Camp
This day is set to be one of the most picturesque and longest segments of the trek. Begin with a 3 to 4-hour hike, covering about 7 kilometers to Shira I Camp, where you’ll take a break for lunch and some rest. Afterwards, continue the journey with a 4 to 5-hour trek spanning 9 kilometers across the breathtaking Shira Plateau—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—passing through the enchanting moorland before arriving at Shira II Camp, nestled beneath an impressive lava flow.

Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp (3940m)
You will embark on a trek of roughly 9 kilometers across the Alpine Desert, which will take between 6 to 8 hours. The journey commences with a steep ascent over gently sloping rocky terrain, followed by a gradual climb to the Lava Tower, which stands at an elevation of 4,600 meters a remarkable volcanic structure that rises 150 meters high. Lunch typically occurs around midday. Due to the high altitude, some hikers may experience mild headaches. Upon reaching the Lava Tower, you will descend for approximately two hours along a dusty and rocky trail to Barranco Camp, where you will spend the night.

Barranco Camp 3940m to Barafu Camp 4673m
After breakfast, you’ll depart from Barranco and ascend the steep Barranco Wall ridge heading to the Karanga Valley campsite. Lunch is enjoyed at Karanga, followed by a short acclimatization break before continuing on to Barafu Hut. This marks the end of the South Circuit, offering expansive summit views from various angles. At Barafu, you’ll camp, relax, have dinner, and get ready for the summit climb. From here, both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks are visible. The trek covers about 9 kilometers and takes 8 to 10 hours across alpine desert terrain.

Barafu Camp (4673m) to Uhuru Summit (5895m) and Descend to Mweka Camp (3100m)
You will awaken around 11:00 pm to savor some tea and snacks before dressing warmly for the midnight commencement of your Kilimanjaro Uhuru summit attempt. At this point, you will join climbers from the Marangu and Rongai routes and proceed together towards Uhuru Peak. The final hour leads to the summit (5,895m), where you may have the opportunity to witness the sunrise either at Stella Point, along the route, or at the peak itself. then you will descend to Barafu Camp for brunch and rest, before continuing down to Mweka Camp. The ascent covers a distance of 5 km and takes approximately 7–8 hours, while the 12 km descent to Mweka Camp (3,100m) lasts around 4–6 hours.

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi
After breakfast, you’ll begin your final descent to Mweka Gate (1,640 meters), where you will receive your summit certificates. The lower trail can be wet and muddy, so it’s advisable to use gaiters and trekking poles. Light clothing like shorts and T-shirts is usually enough, but keep your rain gear and warm layers nearby. Once at the gate, our vehicle will be waiting to take you back to your luxury hotel in Moshi for a refreshing hot shower and a cold beer. The 10km trek through the lush rainforest takes 3 to 4 hours.
