This is a relaxed day to rest and adjust to the new environment. You’ll have an introductory briefing about your trek, meet your team, and prepare for the adventure ahead. After the briefing, enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel and get a good night’s rest before the trek begins.

Moshi to Rongai Gate to Simba Camp

Enjoy a packed lunch on the way and then a hot dinner at the campsite. Mawenzi Tarn huts is one of the most scenic campsites on the route, offering stunning views of the Mawenzi peaks.

Mawenzi Tarn Huts to Kibo Huts

You’ll have a packed lunch on the way, and upon arrival at Kibo Huts, you will have some time to rest before your summit attempt the next day. An early dinner will be served in preparation for the climb that begins around midnight. There are Basic facilities with public toilets, oxygen if required.
Kibo Huts to Summit (Uhuru Peak) to Horombo Huts
Elevation: 4,700m - 5,895m - 3,720m

This is the long and challenging day of your trek—summit day! You will start your ascent to Uhuru Peak around midnight, trekking through the night in freezing temperatures. The climb is steep, and you may feel fatigued as you near the summit. After reaching Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters and enjoying the breathtaking views, you’ll begin your descent to Horombo Hut. The trek down is long, but it’s a relief after reaching the summit. You will arrive at Horombo Hut in the late afternoon or evening, where you will have dinner and rest.
