Moshi – Rongai Gate – Simba Camp

After breakfast, your driver will pick you up and take you to Rongai Gate to complete the permit formalities. During this process, you’ll enjoy lunch. Once all the paperwork is finalized, your Kilimanjaro adventure begins. The route initially passes through farmland before gradually ascending into the lush rainforest at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, concluding the day at your first stop—Simba Camp.

Simba Camp to Third Cave Camp

After a satisfying breakfast, the trek continues through stunning moorland landscapes. As you ascend, your legs will feel the effort and your breathing will change. If you start moving too quickly, your guide may remind you to take it “pole, pole,” which means “slowly, slowly” in Swahili. Along the way, you’ll catch views of Kilimanjaro’s snowy peak and the distant rugged Mawenzi summit. Lunch is enjoyed at Second Cave, a natural lava shelter. Here, the Rongai Route splits: you’ll follow the right path to Third Cave, while those on the longer route head to Kikelewa Camp. Today’s climb reaches 3,900 meters, where you’ll camp at Third Cave. At this altitude, warm clothing is essential due to sharp temperature drops.

Today’s hike leads you through a harsh, dry montane desert landscape. In the evening, you’ll arrive at Kibo Huts, situated at 4,700 meters elevation, where you’ll rest overnight and get ready for the midnight push to the summit. Your guide will provide detailed advice on appropriate clothing and strategies for the final climb. Just before midnight, you’ll wake up, enjoy a warm drink and a light snack, then begin your ascent to the peak.

Kibo Huts – Uhuru Peak Summit – Horombo Huts

Summit night is here! After waking at midnight and sipping a warm drink, you’ll begin your climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895m / 19,340ft). This last section is the toughest and steepest, requiring careful steps and perseverance as you navigate loose scree to reach Gilman’s Point on the crater rim. After a brief break, you’ll push onward to Uhuru Peak, the highest spot in Africa! Following your summit photos, you’ll descend to Kibo Huts for lunch, then continue down to Horombo Huts for your final night on the mountain.

Afterwards, you’ll return to your luxury hotel in Moshi to relax or celebrate your achievement!

At the scheduled time, your driver will pick you up from your luxury hotel in Moshi and transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your departure flight. Alternatively, you may choose to extend your adventure with a safari or proceed to your beach holiday.
