Zanzibar – Moshi
Upon arrival in Zanzibar, Tanzania, you will be assisted by our professional guide for a smooth transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your domestic flight to Moshi. You will transfer to a luxury hotel, where you will relax, enjoy dinner, and attend a pre-climb briefing covering the Marangu Route, gear, safety tips, and what to expect during your climb.

Moshi to Mandara Huts

You will transfer to Marangu Gate and meet your guides. You will begin your trek through the lush Montane Forest. You will spot Colobus monkeys, enjoy towering Eucalyptus trees, and you will have the option to take a short detour to Maundi Crater for panoramic views. You will arrive at Mandara Huts, where you will relax and enjoy lunch and dinner.

You will leave the thick rainforest behind and hike across open moorlands, passing giant lobelias and groundsels. You will take in panoramic views of Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks as you reach Horombo Huts, where you will rest and enjoy dinner.

Horombo Huts to Kibo Huts
Elevation: 12,100 ft / 3,700 m to 15,400 ft / 4,700 m | Distance: 10 km | Time: 6–8 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
You will trek through high-altitude heathlands to Kilimanjaro’s saddle, the plateau between Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks. You will enter a stark, lunar-like landscape before arriving at Kibo Huts, where you will rest and prepare for the midnight summit push.
Kibo Huts – Summknit (Uhuru Peak) – Horombo Huts
Elevation: 15,400 ft / 4,700 m to 19,300 ft / 5,895 m (up) and back to 12,100 ft / 3,700 m (down) | Distance: 4 km up / 14 km down | Time: 10–15 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
You will start your midnight summit ascent (12–2 a.m.) via scree and snow to Gilman’s Point, continuing to Uhuru Peak for sunrise. You will spend 10–20 minutes at the summit taking photos and soaking in the views. You will then descend via Kibo Huts for lunch and continue down to Horombo Huts, where you will rest and celebrate your summit achievement.
