Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Today, you will tackle the 4 km ascent from Karanga Camp at 3,995 m to Barafu Camp at 4,673 m. After a hot lunch at Barafu Camp, take the rest of the day to rest and prepare for the upcoming summit attempt, ensuring you are well-rested for the night ahead.

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Distance: 4.3 km ascent to Stella Point; 5 km to Uhuru Peak

Hiking Time: 6-7 hours ascent, 7-8 hours descent

After a hearty breakfast, you will descend from Mweka Camp at 3,100 m to Mweka Gate at 1,640 m, a distance of 10 km. This gentle walk through the rainforest will take around 4-5 hours. Upon reaching the gate, successful climbers will receive their summit certificates. Afterward, you’ll head back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-earned night’s rest.

Moshi to Tarangire National Park

You will depart from Moshi in the morning and drive to Tarangire National Park, where you will discover the true enormity of the deserted termite mounds and ancient baobab trees. The colossal herds of African elephants dominate the golden savannah, and flocks of striking yellow-collared lovebirds can be heard from miles away. The wildlife that roams Tarangire includes lions, giraffes, and more. You’ll spend the night at your lodge, with dinner served in the evening.
