Drive ~50 mins to Machame Gate. Hike through lush rainforest, crossing muddy paths and narrow ridges. Trekking poles and gaiters recommended. Enjoy scenic glades and the first taste of Kilimanjaro’s grandeur. Evening at Machame Camp with panoramic forest views.

Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

Elevation: 3,840 m ? 3,950 m | Distance: 15 km | Hiking Time: 5-7 hrs | Habitat: Semi-desert | Camp: Barranco Camp

Hike through a semi-desert landscape with panoramic vistas. Pass under the iconic Lava Tower (4,600 m) and descend into the lush Barranco Valley. This challenging yet rewarding day offers dramatic scenery and the chance to spot rare high-altitude plants.

Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp

Elevation: 3,100 m to 3,840 m 

Distance: 9 km 

Hiking Time: 4-6 hrs 

Habitat: Moorland 

Camp: Shira Cave Camp

Ascend out of the rainforest onto rocky ridges. Traverse river gorges and expansive moorlands. Take breaks to admire sweeping views and unique flora. Shira Cave Camp offers a high-altitude moorland experience with stunning sunsets over the plateau.

Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp

Elevation: 4,000 m to 4,700 m 

Distance: 9 km 

Hiking Time: 6-8 hrs 

Habitat: Alpine Desert 

Camp: Barafu Camp

Trek up the Barranco Wall, continue through the Karanga Valley, and join the Mweka Trail junction. Arrive at Barafu Camp with breathtaking views of the summit. Prepare mentally for the challenging summit push the next day.

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak Summit, descend to Mweka Camp

Elevation: 4,700 m to 5,895 m to 3,090 m 

Distance: 6 km up / 13 km down 

Hiking Time: 5-7 hrs up / 5-6 hrs down 

Habitat: Scree & Snow

Begin pre-dawn for the Uhuru Peak summit attempt via the Rebmann and Reitzel glaciers. Reach Stella Point for sunrise, then continue to Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point. Descend via Barafu to Mweka Camp, reliving the incredible summit experience. Meals: Full board.

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, transfer to Arusha

Elevation: 3,090 m to 1,680 m 

Distance: 10 km 

Hiking Time: 3-4 hrs 

Habitat: Forest 

Descend to Mweka Gate, collect summit certificates, then transfer to Arusha. Relax after a week of trekking and prepare for your safari adventure. Meals: Breakfast included.

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park early morning. Explore the park’s vast baobab forests, enormous termite mounds, and thriving wildlife, including elephants, lions, giraffes, and cheetahs. Sunset game drive and overnight at your lodge. Meals: Dinner included.

Ngorongoro Crater Safari & Return to Arusha

Early morning descent into Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day safari. Spot the Big Five—lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo—plus zebras, hippos, and flamingos on the Soda Lake. Picnic lunch included. Return to Arusha in the late afternoon and overnight at your hotel.

Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) & Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your onward flight. End of tour.
