Moshi – Rongai Gate – Simba Camp

After breakfast, your driver will pick you up and take you to Rongai Gate to obtain your hiking permit. The trail then passes through farmland before gradually ascending into the lush rainforest at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, leading you to your first overnight stop at Simba Camp.

Second Cave Camp – Kikelewa Camp

Although the hike is fairly short, it takes you nearer to the stunning Eastern Ice Fields that will keep captivating you. Stay mindful of how you feel and notify your guide immediately if you notice any symptoms of altitude sickness.

Kikelelwa Camp – Mawenzi Tarn Camp

Today’s hike is relatively short, allowing ample afternoon time to soak in the stunning views and adjust to the higher altitude.

After breakfast at camp, you’ll traverse the barren, moonlike landscape of the “Saddle” between Mawenzi and Kibo, arriving at Kibo Hut located at the foot of Kibo Crater’s wall. The remainder of the day is set aside for rest and preparation for your midnight summit ascent.

Kibo Huts – Uhuru Peak Summit – Horombo Huts

Summit night is here! Rising at midnight, you’ll start with a warm drink before embarking on the tough climb to Uhuru Peak, which rises 5,895m (19,340ft) above sea level. This is the hardest part of the journey, with a steep ascent over loose scree to Gilman’s Point on the crater rim. It demands great determination and stamina. After a brief rest, you’ll push on to Uhuru Peak—the highest spot in Africa! After photos and celebration, you’ll descend to Kibo Huts for lunch, then continue down to Horombo Huts for your last night on the mountain.

There, you'll receive your summit certificate and have a meaningful moment to thank your mountain crew—an ideal chance to express your gratitude with well-earned tips. Then, you'll be transported back to your hotel in Moshi to relax or celebrate your achievement!
