Transfer from Arusha to Moshi
You will be picked up from Arusha and being transferred to your mid-range hotel in Moshi. Upon arrival, you will meet your Kilimanjaro mountain guide who will offer you a briefing about your upcoming Kilimanjaro trek and conduct an equipment check to ensure you have all the most important mountain gears. Any missing equipment can be rented on this day.

Moshi to Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2650m)
After breakfast, you will drive for about 2 to 3 hours to the Kilimanjaro’s Lemosho Gate for registration entrance permit. Your climb begins via the lush rainforest, covering a distance of 7 km over 2 to 3 hours to reach Mti Mkubwa Campsite. Along the trail, you’ll encounter a variety of beautiful flora including the Impatiens Kilimanjaro, and with a luck, you can spot black-and-white Colobus monkeys.

Mti Mkubwa Camp (2650m) to Shira II Camp (3,890 meters)
This day will be one of your most scenic and longest hiking trails. The first trail involves a 3 to 4-hour trek to the Kilimanjaro’s Shira I Camp, covering about 7 kilometers, followed by a lunch break and rest. Then, proceed with other 4 to 5 hours, climbing an additional 9 kilometers. In this part of the trail, you'll traverse the heart of the Shira Plateau—via the stunning moorland zone of Mount Kilimanjaro, before reaching your camp for rest and overnight at Shira II camp Kilimanjaro set at the base of an impressive lava flow.

Shira II Camp (3,890 meters) to Barranco Camp 3940m
You will climb for an approximately 9 kilometers, taking about 6 to 8 hours. The trip begins with a Kilimanjaro climb over steep hills and a few scattered rocks, followed by a gradual trek toward the Lava Tower Camp, which stands at 4,600 meters—a 150-meter-high volcanic plug. Around mid-day, you’ll get a lunch. At this altitude, some of the Kilimanjaro climbers may begin to experience a mild headache due to the high elevation during climbing. After reaching the Lava Tower Camp, you’ll proceed for roughly two hours along a dusty, rocky trail before reaching at Kilimanjaro’s Barranco Camp for an overnight stay.

Barranco Camp 3940m to Barafu Camp 4673m
After breakfast, you will leave the Barranco Camp and continue on a steep ridge passing via the Barranco wall, to the Karanga Camp. You will have lunch at Karanga Camp and acclimatize for a few minutes before continuing up to the Barafu Camp 4673m. At this point, you have completed the Southern Circuit of Mount Kilimanjaro, which offers views of the Kibo summit from many different angles. Here you can make camp, rest, and get a dinner, and prepare for the Peak summit day. The two Kilimanjaro peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position. You will cover the distances of 9 kilometers about 8-10 hours and you will be in the alpine desert – Mount Kilimanjaro.

Barafu Camp (4673m) to Summit (5895m) and Descend to Mweka Camp (3100m)
Wake up around 11:00 PM for tea and snacks, then dress warmly in preparation for the Kilimanjaro summit push attempt. The push summit begins at midnight with a challenging climb over steep rocks for about 2 to 3 hours. After that, you will hike a zigzag trail to the crater rim of Mount Kilimanjaro, eventually reaching Stella Point at 5,756 meters around 6:00 AM. At Stella Point, you’ll likely meet other Kilimanjaro climbers from other climbing up routes such as Kilimanjaro’s Marangu and Rongai, and together you’ll continue for about an hour to reach Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters. Along the way, or at the Kilimanjaro summit, you witness a stunning sunrise from different parts of the mountain. After spending 10 to 15 minutes at the Kibo peak for photos and to enjoy the view, you’ll begin your Kilimanjaro descent back to Barafu Camp for a well-deserved rest and brunch. You will then continue descending back to Barafu Camp then Mweka Camp. The total Kilimanjaro climbing distance includes a 5 km climbing up and a 12 km descent down, with hiking times of approximately 7–8 hours up and 4–6 hours down to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters).

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi
After breakfast, you will begin your final down climb to the Mweka Gate (1,640m), where you will receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificates. This trail at the lower elevations can be wet and muddy, so gaiters and trekking poles are recommended. Light clothes such as shorts and T-shirts should be sufficient, but keep your rain gear and warmer layers accessible. Upon reaching at the Mweka Gate, our vehicle will be awaiting for you to transfer you back to your mid-range hotel in Moshi, where you can enjoy a hot shower and a well-deserved beer. The descent covers approximately distance of 10 kilometers and takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, passing via a lush rainforest.
