Train to Morogoro; transfer to Mikumi, Maasai Boma visit
Start with a scenic SGR train ride from Dar es Salaam to the Morogoro region (approx. 1.5 hours). On arrival your driver-guide meets you and continues to Mikumi National Park. After lunch and a short rest at Camp Bastian, enjoy an afternoon visit to a nearby Maasai boma to learn about age-set traditions, song, and local dress — an intimate cultural exchange and great photo opportunities. Return for a relaxed dinner and your first night under the African sky.

Early full-day game drive in Mikumi; scenic transfer toward Ruaha
Rise early for a full-day guided game drive in Mikumi (depart ~6:30 AM) when predators and grazers are most active. Look for elephants, giraffes, zebra, buffalo and — if lucky — a lion. Lunch is served at Mikumi Cottages as you swap sightings with your guide. In the late afternoon, continue the journey toward the Ruaha region: a scenic drive through changing landscapes with chances to stop for sundowners. Check in at Ruaha Hilltop Lodge for dinner and a cozy night.

Drive to Ruaha NP; afternoon game drive & picnic lunch
After breakfast we head into Ruaha National Park. Enjoy a morning transfer and an afternoon game drive, with a picnic lunch in the park near the Great Ruaha River. Ruaha’s less-crowded roads mean long, private game drives — keep an eye out for elephants, hippos in the river, roan and sable antelope, and a rich birdlist. Return to your lodge for sunset and stories around the outdoor fireplace.

Full day exploration of Ruaha (predators & unique species)
Today you’ll explore deeper into Ruaha National Park. The park is famed for predators and its rare African wild dogs; we’ll focus on predator country and riverine life. Picnic beside the Great Ruaha River, then continue game drives into late afternoon. Optionally, ask your guide about a short walking safari segment (where available) or an evening game drive for nocturnal sightings (operator dependent).
