Arusha to Lake Natron
After breakfast at your hotel, your driver-guide will pick you up for the journey to Lake Natron via Engaruka, traveling partly on bumpy, dusty roads. Along the way, spot Maasai villages, giraffes, zebras, gazelles, baboons, and birds including ostriches, vultures, starlings, and kori bustards. On arrival, check in at your camp and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, take a guided walk around Lake Natron, the lowest point of the Great Rift Valley (600m) and home to vast flamingo populations. Optionally hike along the Ngare Sero River to discover lush waterfalls. At midnight, enjoy tea and a light snack before driving to Ol Doinyo Lengai’s foothills for a challenging 5–7 hour trek to the summit. Explore the craters, including one still active, admire stunning views over the lake and Rift Valley, then descend by mid-morning to return to lodge for breakfast and rest.
