Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 2 Camp

After breakfast, you will leave the rainforest and continue climbing into the moorland zone. The landscape changes dramatically as you move through open plains, volcanic formations, and scenic valleys. You will gradually approach the spectacular Shira Plateau, one of Kilimanjaro’s most beautiful areas. The day ends at Shira 2 Camp, where you will enjoy magnificent views of Mount Kibo and the surrounding landscape while continuing your acclimatization.

Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp

Today is a key acclimatization day and one of the most important sections of the route. You will climb steadily toward Lava Tower at 4,630 meters, where you will stop for lunch and rest. After experiencing the high-altitude environment, you will descend to the beautiful Barranco Valley and Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” approach helps your body adjust to the altitude and improves your chances of a successful summit.

Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp

The day begins with the famous Great Barranco Wall, an exciting and rewarding climb that requires some easy scrambling. Your experienced guides will assist you as you make your way up the wall while enjoying spectacular views of the mountain surroundings. After reaching the top, you will continue across ridges and valleys before arriving at Karanga Camp for lunch, relaxation, and overnight rest.

Karanga Camp – Kosovo Camp

Today you will ascend toward Kosovo Camp, your strategic high camp before the summit attempt. The trail passes through rocky alpine terrain as you approach the upper mountain zone. After reaching Kosovo Camp, you will have time to rest, enjoy your meals, and prepare your summit equipment. Staying at Kosovo Camp provides an advantage compared to starting from Barafu Camp because it places you closer to Uhuru Peak. This reduces the summit hiking time, allows for more rest before the final climb, and provides a more comfortable start for summit day.

Kosovo Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp

Today is the highlight of your Kilimanjaro journey — summit day. You will wake around midnight and begin your ascent toward Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Hiking under the stars, you will reach Stella Point on the crater rim before continuing to the summit at 5,895 meters.

After celebrating your achievement and taking unforgettable summit photographs, you will begin your descent. You will pass through Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp, where you will spend your final night on the mountain.

Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi

After breakfast, you will begin your final descent through the beautiful rainforest to Mweka Gate. Along the way, enjoy the changing scenery as you leave the high mountain environment behind. At Mweka Gate, you will complete the park exit procedures and receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate to celebrate your achievement. Your driver will then transfer you back to Moshi for a well-deserved rest, hot shower, and celebration of your successful climb.
